Valentine’s Day is even sweeter this year!🍒

We’re embracing the “go big or go home” mentality with our V-Day decor😅

This flower wall has been living rent-free in our minds for months and we finally brought it to life!

We used floral tiles as our base, then layered real and fake flowers on top to add extra volume.

For the desserts, we gave our fav @wegmans white cake a little V-Day makeover with some cherries and pink frosting🧁

And for a healthier option, we created a chrome coupe tower filled with cherries for loved ones to enjoy!

We finished off the look by draping the tablecloth overhang and viola!❤️🫶

This is your sign to (finally) paint your brick fireplace✨

If I’m being totally honest, this fireplace makeover was a daunting DIY.

On the one hand, the brick 🧱 was discolored and cracking (basically pleading for a makeover!)

On the other hand, the original brick added character to the house 🏡 and we HATE losing character.

Ultimately, we couldn’t figure out how to incorporate the outdated fireplace in our home design, so we grabbed a paint brush and started working!😅

LIME VS. ACRYLIC 🎨

Lime Paint = a mineral paint that absorbs into the brick. It has a thin consistency and buildable coverage. This is a perfect option if you want the “whitewash” look.

Acrylic Paint = a water-based paint that sits on top of the brick (more prone to cracking). It comes in a ton of colors and is a great option if you want to customize the brick color to match your decor style/space.

We tried both paint options, and here’s our conclusion:

The lime paint is a STARK color, so be sure to dilute it with water to create a whitewash. Otherwise, acrylic is your best bet. We haven’t noticed any cracks after 1 year, but it’s still too soon to tell how it will hold up over time.

We condensed dayssss of slab selection into 57 seconds to spare you of the decision fatigue we had to experience 😮‍💨

After much deliberation, here’s what we chose for our kitchen renovation:

👉 Perimeter slab: White Quartz with subtle veining and a pencil edge

👉 Island slab: Jet black granite, no veining, leather finish with a pencil edge

We LOVE the contrast between the black and white countertops, tied together with the Natural Tan cabinet color. The combination is soooo so stunning and I think we need to repeat this formula in our next kitchen reno👀

When it comes to kitchen countertops: do you prefer natural stone or manufactured stone?
