How to Create Your 4th of July Party Invitations
Customizing your 4th of July party invitations takes less than 10 minutes. Choose your favorite template below, click the “Get the Template” button, and it will automatically open a copy in Canva that’s yours to edit. Just swap in your event details, and you’re done.
It’s that easy.
If you’ve never used Canva before, think of it as a drag-and-drop design tool that gives you everything a graphic designer would use. Without the fancy design degree. It’s free, it’s intuitive, and you don’t need a premium account to use any of these templates.
A few quick tips for customizing your Fourth of July party invitation template:
- Switch things up! Canva lets you adjust fonts, colors, and layout elements directly. If the navy feels too dark for your vibe or you want to swap the font for something even more sophisticated, go for it. The template is just your starting point.
- Pick a side: digital vs. printed. Call me old school, but I still love sending a printed invitation for elevated events (a birthday party, a fancy dinner, or anything with a dress code). But for a casual backyard BBQ or picnic, digital is totally fine and honestly a lot easier.
- Order the invites early. If you’re printing, give yourself a few weeks of lead time, especially if you’re mailing them out. You want to give your guests enough time to arrange their schedules and RSVP. And as a host, it helps to have the headcount early.
How to Print Your Invites 💌
Once you’re done editing, save and download the file as a PDF or PNG, then choose from the printing options below. All templates are sized to 5” x 7”, but you can resize them directly in Canva if needed.
Here are the exact envelopes I use to send out my 5″ x 7″ party invitations (they’re available in red, white, and blue to match the 4th of July theme!)
Amazon
Envelopes for Invitations (50-Pack)
5″ x 7″ envelopes with a peel-and-paste adhesive (no more envelope licking!)
CVS Pharmacy: Prints 5” x 7” photos in Glossy or Matte finish for $2.99 each. Glossy is usually available the same day, while Matte can take 5–9 days.
Walgreens: Same sizing and pricing as CVS, but Walgreens offers same-day pickup on both finishes.
Canva: The best option if you’re printing in bulk (10+ invitations). A pack of 50 comes out to $1.00 per invite on Premium Paper with Gloss Finish. But the price escalates significantly if you buy smaller quantities. For example, purchasing 5 invitations from Canva costs $3.05 per invitation, making CVS and Walgreens a more cost-effective option for smaller guest lists.
Printing Tip
Always check for drugstore photo promos before you print. CVS and Walgreens regularly run photo discounts (sometimes 40–50% off), which can bring your per-invite cost down to $1.50- $1.80.
4th of July Party Invitations Wording Ideas
No one likes staring at a blank text field. Here are four ready-to-use wording templates (one for each 4th of July party invitation) that you can copy directly into Canva and adjust to fit your party details. Copy them word-for-word or just use them as a jumping-off point.
4th of July Picnic Invitations
Picnics are all about the logistics. Make sure you add a note about parking, what guests should bring (blankets, chairs, etc.), and whether food is included or BYO.
“Blankets out, fireworks up. Join us for a patriotic picnic with food, drinks, and the best view of the fireworks.
[Date] · [Time] · [Location] RSVP by [Date] to [Contact Info].”

4th of July Pool Party Invitations
Keep it fun and casual. The goal is to get people excited before they pack their pool bag. If it’s a kids’ party, add a line about bringing floats or water toys. If it’s adults-only, say so upfront so guests can plan accordingly.
“Grab your swimsuit and your sunscreen…we’re celebrating the 4th of July at the pool! Join us for a day of swimming, snacks, and summer vibes.
[Date] · [Time] · [Address] RSVP by [Date] to [Contact Info].”
4th of July Birthday Party Invitations
Double the celebration, double the fun. This wording works whether you’re sharing the spotlight with America or just leaning into the red, white, and blue birthday aesthetic.
“U.S.A isn’t the only one aging up on the 4th. Come celebrate [Name]’s [Age] birthday with us!
[Date] · [Time] · [Address] Dress code: Red, white & blue. RSVP by [Date] to [Contact Info].”
4th of July BBQ Invitations
Casual, warm, and straight to the point. If you’re asking guests to contribute something (a side dish, a dessert, a bottle of wine), this is a great place to mention it.
“The grill is fired up, and the cold drinks are ready. Come celebrate the 4th with us! Burgers, hot dogs, and good company are all on the menu.
[Date] · [Time] · [Address] RSVP by [Date] to [Contact Info].”
