This is for the dog mom who loves to go all out for her dog. Whether this is your pup’s first birthday party or their fourth (no judgment, I just wrapped up Leo’s fifth!), this post is your curated shopping list for an elevated, stylish, and stress-free party setup.
All the dog birthday decor is under $35, available on Amazon, easy to assemble, and completely on theme. Because if we’re doing this, we’re doing it right.
And if you’re still in the early stages of party planning and need help prepping each element (themes, invitations, food, games, all of it), I wrote out my entire 7-step process so you can plan like a pro. Read the post here 👉 Dog Party Ideas: 7 Steps to Host a Birthday Worth Barking About.
13 Cute Dog Party Decorations Under $35
Your dog party decorations consist of three main categories: the tablescape, the backdrop, and the accessories. Grab your pup and let’s get into it.
Dog Birthday Tablescape Ideas
Whether you’re serving a full brunch menu for your human guests or a simple spread of dog-safe treats for the birthday crew, the right dog birthday table decor sets the tone for the whole event.
Textured Table Runner
Start by draping a neutral, textured table runner along the length of your dining table or kitchen island. This will create a clean backdrop for the rest of your tablescape design.
This 10-foot runner is long enough to work on most tables, comes in a pack of 3 for larger setups, and is available in 18 colors. If you still haven’t committed to a color scheme yet, grab a neutral cream or white and build from there.
35″ x 120″ Cheesecloth Table Runners
This set includes 3 table runners so you can create a layered, dimensional tablescape design.
Paw Print & Bone-Shaped Serving Trays
Next up, the serving platters. If you want to keep the dog theme going, check out these bamboo trays that come in paw-print and dog-bone shapes. I’m picturing a cheese board on the dog bone tray for the humans, and assorted dog treats on the paw print tray for the dogs.
Bone & Paw-Shaped Bamboo Serving Trays
They’re made from 100% bamboo, which beats the flimsy, single-use plastic party trays we’re all tired of.
Gingham Napkins
I couldn’t resist adding these neutral gingham napkins to the list. They add pattern and texture to the tablescape without competing with the other dog-themed elements. The color palette is neutral enough to blend with almost any theme, and the scalloped edge gives them a playful, polished finish.
Gingham Napkins with Scalloped Edge
Available in ten unique colorways to match any dog party theme.
Wooden Dog Birthday Cake Topper 🎂
Last on the list is this wooden cake topper! This is an easy way to add a personal touch to your dog-friendly birthday cake (store-bought, homemade, or from a local dog bakery) without any cake decorating expertise.
Don’t see your number? No problem. Just search “wooden cake topper [#]” on Amazon, and you’ll find a variety of options for your dog’s exact age.

Made from real wood and sturdy enough to reuse in future parties!
Dog Party Backdrop Ideas
Every great dog party decor setup needs a backdrop for photos. And it’s way easier to execute than you think.
Paw Print Decals 🐾
Start off with these paw print decals that you can stick directly on your walls and floors without any sticky residue or surface damage.
Peel and stick directly onto your surfaces in whatever arrangement you like (scattered, trailing, grouped, etc.) and peel them off when you’re done. These are seriously the easiest dog party decorations on the entire list.
Paw Print Vinyl Wall Decals
Available in white, black, gray, pink, and teal to complement a range of dog themes.
“Let’s Pawty” Burlap Banner
You can stop there, or keep the fun going with this “Let’s Pawty” burlap banner. Layer it above your decals for a text element that ties the whole look together.
The neutral burlap works with any color scheme, and it hangs easily with command hooks. No drilling, no damage, and no complicated cleanup.

Pre-strung banner (no assembly required) for easy install and storage.
Bone-Shaped Balloons 🦴
Add dimension to your backdrop with these bone-shaped balloons, available in a set of 6. Cluster them on one side of your wall or scatter them across the backdrop for a fuller look (this will look so good in pictures).
The kit includes a straw for easy inflation. Just insert it through the seal, blow until fully inflated (it should take under 1 minute per balloon), then pinch the seal when you’re done. Personally, I always tape the seals down with clear packing tape to keep the balloon from deflating over time, but this step is totally optional.
Bone-Shaped Foil Balloon Set (6-Pack)
You can inflate the balloons with helium or air (straw included!)
Number Balloons
Finish off your wall with these oversized 40-inch number balloons and matching heart balloons. All of these elements together create a neutral, elevated photo backdrop that your guests will be dying to use (speaking from experience).
Don’t see your number? Try these instead.
40-Inch Number & Heart Balloon Set
Includes one number balloon and six heart balloons in coordinating colors.
Dog Party Accessories & Finishing Touches
The accessories are my favorite part of planning dog party decorations. They’re all about your pup and your four-legged guests.
Dog Birthday Hat
This pom-pom birthday hat comes in three number options: 1, 2, and 1/2 (yes, half-birthdays count, too). And it has an elastic strap to fit different head sizes. My dog Leo has one of the biggest dog heads I’ve ever seen. So if it fits him, it fits most.
If I’m being real, your dog probably won’t love the hat. So just put it on for photos, get your shots, and take it off. Some dogs might tolerate it for longer. Others (hi, Leo) will give you about 45 seconds before the shaking starts.
Test it out before the party, so you’re not fumbling with it in front of guests. Your dog’s comfort always comes first, so don’t force it if they’re not a fan.
Need more number options? Check out this dog birthday hat with interchangeable numbers between 1 and 10.
Pom-Pom Dog Birthday Hat
Adorably small (3.5″ x 5″) and features an elastic strap for all sizes of heads.
Dog Birthday Bandana
If your dog is a hat hater like mine, a birthday bandana is a great alternative. Leo wore his all day without a second thought, which is saying a lot.
Dog Birthday Party Bandana
Made from 100% cotton and available in five different sizes to fit big and small dogs alike.
It comes in “Birthday Girl” and “Birthday Boy” options, it’s made from 100% cotton, and it’s soft enough that even sensitive dogs don’t mind it. Pair it with the hat for photos, then swap to just the bandana for the rest of the day.
Dog Birthday Party Favors
Last but not least: the party favors. Set up a little station with these dog stuffed animals and party favor boxes, put up a sign that says “Adopt a Dog!”, and let each guest pick one to take home.
Assorted Stuffed Animal Dogs
Available in five different breed assortments, so you can customize your party favors to match your guests!
It’s a cute and easy way to finish off the party and stay on theme until the end.
Party Favor Boxes
You can go for the plain brown or get a dog-themed box to really lean into the theme.
Quick Tips for Setting Up Your Dog Party Decorations
Now that you added your dog party decorations to your *virtual* cart, let’s jump to the setup. Here are a few pro tips I’ve learned after throwing more dog birthday parties than I can count.👇
Start With Your Color Palette
Always start by choosing a dog party theme or color palette (I made a list of my favorite dog themes here!). If themed parties aren’t your thing, create a central color scheme instead. Stick to two or three colors (one neutral base and one or two accent colors) and use them to guide all of your dog party decoration ideas.
And if you love a cohesive, themed party aesthetic, you’ll love this birthday party idea too. Read the post here 👉 How to Host the Ultimate Citrus-Themed Birthday Party.
Keep Everything Dog-Friendly
Look at all of your food, decorations, and accessories through the eyes of your dog. Remember, certain foods and materials that are safe for humans can be toxic to dogs. So keep balloons elevated, confetti out of reach, and human food separated from the dog treats.
I know this sounds like an obvious step, but it’s easy to forget in the throes of party planning. Walk around your space before your four-legged guests arrive and check for anything that could be potentially dangerous.
Give Yourself Time
Plan in stages. Set up your backdrop the night before. Do the table the morning of. Save the dog accessories for right before guests arrive so your pup doesn’t have a chance to destroy the bandana (it’s happened to me!)
Dog Party Decorations For Your Pup’s Big Day
Hosting a dog birthday party is surprisingly easy when you have the right plan in place.
